The Platform of «VaccinesR&D» is based  on the applicationof the Microbiology, Virology, Immunologydisciplinesin additionto the multidimensionalscience (“omics”), to developpotentialnew vaccine candidates, and  studythe mechanismsunderlyinghostresponsesto pathogensand vaccines.

Design and development of new vaccine candidates

– bacterial vaccine vectors (Streptococcus gordonii, Lactobacillus)
– viral vaccine vectors (chimeric vectors, defective viruses…)
– baculovirusexpression system for production of protein antigens
– recombinant proteins, mutated proteins, chimeric proteins
– antigen/adjuvant formulation, including new adjuvants
– design of DNA vaccine

Assay the immunogenicity in vitro and in vivo (mouse model/transgenic mice)

– Identification of epitopes recognized by neutralizing antibodies
– Analysis of CytotoxicT cell response
– Evaluation of the humoraland cell mediated immune response
– ELISA, chemiluminescence,immunoblot, neutralization, HAI, IF

Assay  innate and adaptive immune responses elicited by vaccines

– flow cytometric analysis
– transcriptomicanalysis
– Promoteharmonisation/standardisationamongfacilities
– assay for inflammatory response

Protection studies in mouse animal models

– Challenge of immunized animals
– Evaluation of protection to the pathogen conferred by the vaccine
– Study of side effects of the vaccine in the murine model
Advise on the stages  of vaccine development along the pipeline leading to human studies

•Discoveryand vaccine candidate profiling

     Project identification, design and development
     – provide expertise to design the pipeline of novel vaccines sperimentation

•Establishing partnerships with internal & external  investigators

     Knowledge development, exchange, and networking

•Assisting in the preparation of vaccine candidates

     Technical support for promising products for clinical development
      – assist in the preparation of vaccine candidates for the subsequent phases of clinical trials: adjuvant, dose, delivery route, formulation;
      – preclinical studies including animal models;
      – identification of relevant correlates of protection
